You are required to pay the scheduled application charge for the appropriate type of visa or citizenship application. The application charge is the amount of money in Australian dollars (AUD) that must be paid for an Australian visa or citizenship application. The correct application charge must be paid at the time the application is lodged. We cannot start processing your application until the correct fee has been received, as the application would not be legally valid.
The visa application charge should be paid by credit card. Acceptable cards include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners and JCB International. The Visa application charge will be debited in Australian dollars. Please check that your bank will process payments in Australian dollars before lodging your application - otherwise your payment may be declined.
For applicants travelling in a group, payment using a single credit card is the preferred method of payment.
If you send your application by post or drop your application off at the Embassy, the card holder must provide a completed and signed Credit Card Authorisation Form with the application.
If the correct form is not provided or we are unable to deduct the charge from the credit card, the application will be returned unprocessed.
Application charges can also be paid at any office of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) in Australia on your behalf. In this case, you must include a copy of the payment receipt with your application.
