Public Diplomacy Officer

The Australian Embassy in Moscow is seeking a Public Diplomacy Officer to work on a fixed term contract.

The successful applicant must be willing to work out of hours if required. All staff require a local police clearance before employment.

The main duties of the Public Diplomacy Officer are:

1.  Promotion of a positive image of contemporary Australia through public relations, media liaison, event organisation and management and dissemination of information about Australia
2.  Handling embassy correspondence and public enquiries
3.  Development of the Embassy’s annual program of public diplomacy and cultural events; form partnerships and securing of sponsorship to deliver that program
4.  Maintenance of the Embassy’s website
5.  Arranging of visitor programs
6.  Administrative support, arranging Embassy functions

Application

All applications must be made in English, addressing applicants’ claims against the selection criteria below. Please include specific examples of demonstrated experience. Applications should be no more than three pages in length. Applications must be accompanied by a CV and cover letter. Applicants should also provide the contact details of three work-related referees who can support the applicant’s claims.

Selection Criteria

•  Proven ability to successfully manage logistically complex events, provide creative promotional ideas, and secure sponsorship.

•  Proven ability to work autonomously, to plan, organise, schedule and prioritise own workload, and contribute to team output.

•  Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills, advanced ability to communicate orally and in writing in both Russian and English, including skills in drafting reports, correspondence etc.

•  Strong organisational and representational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Ability to conduct business effectively with a wide range of people, including senior government officials and senior business people.

•  Demonstrated sound judgment.

•  Strong research skills and proven ability to use the internet, the media and other publicly available sources of information to compile reports. Proficiency in commonly-used computer software programs.

•  Previous experience in an Embassy environment would be an advantage.

 

Remuneration

The Australian Government is a competitive and equal opportunities employer. A salary of 73,959 Roubles per month will be offered to the successful applicant.
