Who do we recruit?

Alongside diplomats posted from Australia, the Embassy employs a number of local staff with a wide range of skills, backgrounds and experiences.

Local staff can be Russian citizens, dual nationals or hold other nationalities (including Australian). However, applicants for local positions must have existing work rights in the Russian Federation as the Embassy cannot sponsor candidates for Russian work visas or permits.

Exemplary ethical conduct is a requirement of any prospective employee as this contributes significantly to the standing of Australia and the overall effectiveness of our work.

Vacancies for Local Positions

The Australian Embassy to the Russian Federation is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates for two positions in the Property Department:

1.  Property Manager

The main duties of this position are: 

  • Day-to-day management of the Australian Embassy’s property portfolio in accordance with Australian Government guidelines. Properties include the chancery building, the official residence of the Australian Ambassador and all other residences of Australian diplomatic staff.
  • Negotiation, liaison and co-ordination with landlords, contractors and other service providers.
  • Management and co-ordination of contract tender processes.
  • Procurement of goods and services in accordance with Australian Government guidelines.
  • Asset management including acquisitions, maintenance, stocktaking and disposal.
  • Maintenance of inventories, stores and kits.
  • Supervision and management of maintenance and cleaning staff, contracted security guards and other service providers as required.
  • Reviewing of Financial Payments
  • Undertake other duties as directed, including logistical support for Australian diplomatic staff and official visitors.

Are you the person we are looking for?

We are seeking a person who is self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.  We need someone who is well organised, able to determine and adjust priorities (in consultation with their supervisor), and meet deadlines.

The successful applicant must demonstrate highly-developed communication and networking skills in English and Russian.

Applicants must be willing to undertake work outside normal business hours if required.

Application

Your application and curriculum vitae (CV) must be in English, addressing claims against the selection criteria below. Responses should be detailed but concise and include specific examples of demonstrated past experience. Applications should be no more than three pages in length and must be accompanied by a CV.  Applicants should also provide the contact details of three work-related referees who can support the applicant’s claims.

To be considered, both your application and CV must be in English.  Your application must address the selection criteria with detailed and well-structured responses.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated, sound knowledge of Russian civil law, the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and effective management of all aspects of a property portfolio. Ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.  Ability to conduct business effectively with a range of clients, including senior representatives in the public and private sectors.  Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to undertake other duties as directed.
  • High-level organisational and coordination skills, including the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, supervise a maintenance team and contribute effectively to work objectives, pro-actively identify issues of relevance, anticipate problems and suggest solutions.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate fluently and effectively in Russian and English, both orally and in writing including two way translations and undertaking informal two way interpreting.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including experience in using MS Outlook and Microsoft Office.

Remuneration

The Australian Government is a competitive and equal opportunity employer.  A salary in the range between 152 914 and 184 273 Roubles (Gross) per month will be offered to the successful applicant.

 

2.  Maintenance Officer

The main duties of this position are: 

  • Participation in maintenance and operation of buildings and premises (heat supply, water supply, sewage, ventilation and air conditioning systems).
  • Control of the engineering networks, plumbing equipment and devices, troubleshooting and breakdowns, small and medium repair, installation of equipment.
  • Going out to facilities for troubleshooting.
    Maintenance in working condition of machinery and tools.
  • Installation and assembly of furniture and equipment.
  • If necessary, perform all types of repair, finishing and construction work in small
  •  volumes.
  • Perform painting.
  • Relocation of furniture, equipment and other property, if necessary, carrying heavy loads.
  • Cleaning of the territory of the Residence from snow and debris.
  • Escorting representatives of contracting and supplying organizations during the regular inspections and tasks/works performance.
  • Purchase of consumable and finishing materials, small tools, etc.

We are seeking a person who is self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.  We need someone who is well organised, able to determine and adjust priorities (in consultation with their supervisor), and meet deadlines.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate relevant skills, and be willing to work out-of-hours if required.

All Embassy employees must pass security checks (including a local police clearance) prior to employment.

A successful candidate will have to undergo a medical examination with a medical certificate on the absence of contraindications for the job in this position.

Remuneration

The Australian Government is a competitive and equal opportunity employer.  A salary in the range between 63 236 and 67 781 Roubles (Gross) per month will be offered to the successful applicant.
