Passport Interviews at the Australian Consulates - St Petersburg (Russia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan)

If you reside outside of Moscow or in one of the other CIS countries, you can lodge your passport application through the Australian Consulates in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan).

Please note that the Australian Consulates cannot witness any signatures on passport application forms.

 

To lodge your application through our Consulates, please follow these steps:

 

  1. Read the information on our website under Passport Services to determine your eligibility for the available passport lodgement options.
  2. If you are not eligible for the digital upload or mail-in lodgement, please follow the in-person lodgement guides to prepare the aplication form and supporting documents: First Adult Passport or Child Passport (scroll down for in-person lodgement).

  3. Once your application is ready to lodge, please book an appointment at one of the Consulates using the contact details below.

  4. For your interview appointment, please ensure that you bring your completed/signed application and all required original documents as these will need to be checked by the Consulate staff. The Consulate will then conduct a passport interview, accept your application, take copies of your original documents and certify them.
  5. Note: Payment can be made remotely in RUB or AUD, depending on your bank card. Please email [email protected] prior to your appoitnment with the Consulate requesting a remote payment form and advising whether you hold a bank card issued in our outside of Russia and the type of passport you are applyig for. Pre-filled and signed remote payment form will need to be sumbitted to the Consulate together with your application at the time of your appointment.
  6. Once the interview is completed, the Consulate will onforward your application to the Australian Embassy in Moscow for processing. Payment will also be deducted remotely by the Australian Embassy in Moscow after the interview.
  7. Please allow a minimum of six weeks to receive a new passport once the payment has been taken.
  8. Once your passport has been finalised it will be sent  to the Australian Embassy in Moscow if you are located in Russia, and directly to your mailing address if you are located in one of the CIS countries outside of Russia. If the passport is received at the Embassy you will be notified via email, so you can organise a courier on your side, or come and collect the passport in person.
  9.  Please note that it is your responsibility to organise  a courier to collect your passport from the Embassy.
